Apparently today was the hottest day of the year so far, I wouldn’t be surprised if that was true to be honest, working in my showroom this afternoon the air tasted and felt like it had escaped from a nearby industrial oven. Okay, it wasn’t that hot, but tough on the throat and lungs at least.
After a quick salad dinner and a flop on the deck with a glass of juice, we decided it was best not to waste the weather while it lasts so we hopped into the car and took a ten minute drive to Rosses Point. I did the rolled up trousers sandal carrying thing until we got to the rocks at the end of the beach. We seem to be having a good streak of beach discovery lately, today was the first time we realised there is a beach on the other side of the rock out-cropping at the end of Rosses Point. Upon chatting with our neighbours tonight we now realise that it’s known locally as the nudist beach. No, we didn’t see anything to confirm that this evening.
As we were driving back into the town we spotted a huge column of smoke coming from somewhere near where I work, so, being the nosey gits we are, we went out to investigate. It turned out to be a tire factory just a minute down the road from my workplace. Driving under the column of pitch black smoke on the dual carriageway was rather exhilarating. Seeing the flames and the crowds and fire brigade was pretty exciting too, until I checked my childish wonder and considered the firemen and peoples jobs that are involved when these things happen.
Anyway, not feeling very wordy this evening. I’m nicely worn out from the hour or two on the beach. That, and I seem to be brewing a touch of a sinus infection thing again. Hurrah!
I’m off for an early night, take care all, x
